Well, I've finally got around to starting a web site like I've been wanting to for a while. Finally overcame The Resistance, that nagging feeling in the pit of your stomach that you're not following a passion because of shoddily crafted rationalizations. In my case, the feeling that I'd receive a lot of criticism from idiots (blogs are gay dude, why?) and of course, fear of criticism in general. Writing is a lot more personal than the superficial front that we all put up on a daily basis, so of course the fear of rejection and disapproval is more intense. Fear never helps, though. Plus, I feel like a giant pussy when I am not me for fear of negative opinions. Time to man up.
So, for my first post, I'll outline what I hope to accomplish with my site, and what I hope to avoid.
1. First and foremost, to be "emotionally honest." (Read this.) It's very difficult for a pathological narcissist like myself, since I have a tendency to want to be perfect at everything that I do, but I respect that in other writers and want to have that quality myself. Those dark thoughts you have, laying in bed at night, that you try to repress and deny? Those truths about yourself that your try to gloss over with self-deception? I'd like to have to courage to own up to those. If you ever catch me putting up lies, rationalizations, or half-truths to project some bullshit image that's not me, please textually bitchslap me.
Edit: I want this to be my approach to life in general.

2. To add value to a reader's life, instead of wasting his/her time with some self-indulgent nonsense. In other words, to be interesting or to be funny. Again with the narcissism.
3. To clarify my own thoughts, positions, and of course to refine my writing. I enjoy it and would like to improve.
4. To establish a stronger identity, instead of pretending to be "normal." I despise conformity, especially in myself.
That's enough to get started. Aside from myself, my life, and how awesome I am, I'm also interested in psychology, neuroscience, biochemistry, and pretty much anything else nerdy as shit, so those topics will work their way in. Comments are welcome of course, whether they be fawning compliments, constructive criticism, or anonymous e-hate.
